The global food crisis, fueled by conflict, climate shocks and the COVID-19 pandemic, is worsening due to the impact of the war in Ukraine, which is driving up the price of food, fuel and fertilizer, the World Food Program (WFP) said in a report released June 24, 2022. Millions of people worldwide are at risk of starvation if immediate action is not taken to respond. The WFP says there is now a very real risk that global food needs will soon exceed the capacity of the UN agency or any other aid organization. Due to the unprecedented overlap of crises, the World Food Program's annual operational needs are higher than ever before. The UN agency is calling for coordinated action to address this crisis.
