While most people displaced by months of airstrikes and insecurity in Lebanon have returned to their areas of origin, many are facing damaged homes, widespread destruction, and a lack of essential services, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR). On Tuesday, UNHCR warned that the displacement and humanitarian crisis in Lebanon is far from over.

Armed groups have killed at least 160 people in central Nigeria over the weekend in a series of attacks on villages, according to media reports. Media outlets reported that bandit groups launched well-coordinated attacks that started in the night of Saturday and continued into Monday against at least 20 different communities in Plateau State, injuring more than 300 people.

The three-member International Fact-Finding Mission for Sudan presented its first oral update to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The head of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said Monday that 3 million Haitian children caught up in rampant gang violence are in need of humanitarian assistance, including thousands who are at risk of dying from severe malnutrition. According to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), more than 33,000 Congolese refugees have returned spontaneously to the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from Burundi since the Burundi–DRC border reopened at the end of February. UNHCR is now calling for urgent international support to ensure that these returns are carried out safely, with dignity, and sustainably.

According to the latest data from the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), cholera has been surging across the continent since January 2025, with 206,789 cases and 4,330 deaths reported. The outbreak is affecting nearly half of the continent's countries, marking a sharp rise in both cases and geographical spread compared to 2024. The overall case fatality rate (CFR) stands at 2.1 percent, underscoring the deadly nature of the outbreak.

With Haiti “in the grip of total chaos”, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says "restoring a degree of public order" to prevent further harm to the population from violence and to ensure access to life-saving humanitarian assistance must be the immediate priority. Speaking to the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday, Volker Türk also said that humanitarian corridors must be established as soon as possible.
