Save the Children International

Save the Children is an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that campaigns for the human rights and protection of children and provides emergency humanitarian aid for children worldwide. The NGO was founded in the UK in 1919 by the teacher and social reformer Eglantyne Jebb. Today, Save the Children International consists of 30 country organizations and is active in around 120 countries.  The NGO is one of the most successful and influential aid organizations in the world. Its international headquarters are located in London.

Save the Children Australia is the Australian branch of Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that works to improve the lives of children in Australia and around the world. The NGO was founded in 1919 by the teacher and social reformer Eglantyne Jebb in Britain. World must act with urgency to save Palestinians in Gaza, UN leaders say

Top United Nations officials on Monday called for urgent global action to save Palestinians in Gaza, highlighting once again the catastrophic humanitarian crisis. For more than a month, Gaza has been cut off from commercial and humanitarian supplies, leaving more than 2.1 million people trapped, bombed and starving. Meanwhile, Israeli attacks on civilians, including aid workers, journalists, UN personnel, hospitals and ambulances, continue with impunity.

774 million children face double threat of high climate risk and poverty

An estimated 774 million children across the world – or one third of the world’s child population - are living with the dual impacts of poverty and high climate risk, according to a new report by the humanitarian organization Save the Children International. The countries with the highest proportion of children affected by this double burden are South Sudan (87%), Central African Republic (85%) and Mozambique (80%), the analysis released today says.

At least 230 million children live in high-intensity conflict zones

More than half of all children living in conflict areas in 2021 – an estimated 230 million – lived in the deadliest conflict countries, a 9% increase from the previous year, reveals new analysis from the humanitarian organization Save the Children International released today. High-intensity conflict zones are defined as conflict zones with more than 1,000 battle-related deaths in a year. The report also shows that about 449 million children worldwide were living in a conflict zone in 2021, a slight drop from the previous year.

NGO: Half of families in Sri Lanka reducing children’s food intake

Half of families in Sri Lanka are forced to reduce the amount they feed their children, according to a survey by the humanitarian organization Save the Children International, as the country’s economic downturn spirals further into a full-blown hunger crisis nearly a year after the government defaulted on its debt. The non-governmental organization (NGO) said today the government and international community must act now to prevent the country’s children from becoming a lost generation.
