Founded in 1881, the nonprofit organization provides relief to people affected by disasters, both natural and human-made. The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, a global network of independent organizations dedicated to humanitarian principles.

Oxfam International is an association of humanitarian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) worldwide. Oxfam International was founded in 1995 by a group of independent NGOs. They came together to form an umbrella organization to improve their effectiveness and achieve greater impact in reducing global poverty and injustice. The name "Oxfam" is derived from the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief, which was founded in the United Kingdom in 1942. The non-governmental organization is committed to alleviating poverty, inequality and injustice worldwide.

WASH stands for water, sanitation, and hygiene. The acronym WASH is widely used in the context of humanitarian aid and development work by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and United Nations agencies. Access to safe water and sanitation is a human right.

Oxfam is a well-known international aid organization that focuses on alleviating poverty and advocating for social justice. The name “Oxfam” derives from the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief, founded in Britain in 1942. The non-governmental organization (NGO) aims to alleviate poverty, inequality, and injustice globally. Oxfam provides humanitarian assistance, works on development projects, and advocates for policy changes.

CARE is an international humanitarian organization fighting global poverty and providing assistance in emergencies. The non-governmental organization (NGO) focuses on empowering women and girls. CARE nowadays stands for "Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere". The NGO, is one of the largest and oldest humanitarian aid organizations focused on fighting global poverty and social injustice. CARE Australia is a member of the global CARE Confederation. In 2020/21, the Australian branch assisted 2.3 million people across 24 countries.

Founded in 1947, UNICEF USA (United States Fund for UNICEF) is one of 34 National Committees located in countries around the world, that raises funds for the United Nations Children's Fund’s emergency and development work and advocates for children’s rights worldwide.  The National Committees are a part of UNICEF’s global organization, each established as an independent local non-governmental organization (NGO).  UNICEF USA advances the global mission of UNICEF by rallying the American public to support the world’s most vulnerable children.

Plan International focuses on children's rights and equality for girls. The independent development and humanitarian organization advances children’s rights and opportunities, as well as equality for girls. Plan International is one of the oldest and largest children's aid organizations in the world. The charity responds to emergencies and disasters that threaten the lives of children. Plan International UK is the British arm of this organization, focusing on international development and humanitarian projects.

UNICEF was founded in 1946 as the "United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund" and is now known as the "United Nations Children's Fund". The UN organization is one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world. The children's relief organization is active in over 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of children. The organization is based in New York City, United States.

A non-state armed group (NSAG) is an armed entity that operates independently of state governments and engages in armed conflict or insurgency. These groups are often referred to as non-state actors or non-state armed actors. NSAGs can take various forms, ranging from rebel groups, militias, and insurgent factions to terrorist organizations and paramilitary forces.
